A 9 year old boy lives with his mother in an 11\\'x11\\' room, confined to the space with no privacy for 23 hours a day. He is allowed to leave the room only under supervision, and then he must wear sunglasses, hat and mask. One day the boy suddenly disappears.. The 35th anniversary of this iconic novel by Emma Donoghue has just passed so it seems about time for another adaptation of this disturbing story! The film adaptation of "Room" was released on October 16th so we'll be focusing on that one. It stars Maika Monroe (who's previously starred in films like "Green Room", "The Bling Ring", and "We Are Still Here") as the young protagonist, Jacob. The film was written by Chris Sparling (inspirational stories like Half Nelson for Esquire, The Fortune Hunter for Rolling Stone, and the upcoming supernatural horror The 6th Sense), with Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer. From the trailer, it looks like it's going to be a particularly heavy subject matter which is always entertaining to watch. So far there has been no word on when the film will be released but it will be interesting to see how it pans out after all of these years. There is a character in this film called "Benny", which is a reference to Jack Black's character from "The Disaster Artist". It is also implied that the Room in this film is actually based on the Room from "The Disaster Artist". At one point, we see the character of Emma and her husband performing a dance called "the dance of the 30 pieces of silver" and we hear them counting out 30 pieces of silver which was also a scene from "The Disaster Artist". Furthermore, Emma is seen wearing a hat with cat ears on it which is reminiscent of the flower hat worn by Alison Brie in "The Disaster Artist" as well as Violet (Saoirse Ronan).
